SAGNIER’S MODERNISM
Although his works are dotted all over Barcelona, Enric Sagnier was cruelly forgotten during his time. With a career spanning some fifty years and straddling the 19th and 20th centuries, his work coincided with the explosion of Modernism.
The exhibition “The city of Sagnier. Modernist, eclectic and monumental”, at the CaixaForum, resurrects the work of this architect through photographs from the period, models, postcards and audiovisual displays. The buildings designed by Sagnier include the Tibidabo church, the Palau de la Justícia (Justice Palace), the new Customs Building and the “la Caixa” headquarters, on Via Laietana.
