For All Saints: PANALLETS

In Catalonia, on All Saints’ Day chestnuts are traditionally accompanied by Panellets, sweets in for of small cakes or biscuits.

These sweets are part of the traditional Catalan cuisine and desserts of the day of All Saints (1st of November), as it formerly had a sacramental character, and still preferably consumed on that date. They are made of marzipan and almond flour, but they add different ingredients that give them a wide range of flavors: pine nuts, almond, coco, coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, cherry or lemon between others. Panellets are usually sold at retail, unpacked, in bakeries and shops, but they can also be found packaged in boxes. In any case, must be identified as “Panellets. Specialty. Traditional. Guaranteed” and with the Community logo for this specific product. You can find them all along Catalonia.
