THE PHILLIPS COLLECTION COMES TO THE CAIXAFORUM
It’s not very often that the masterpieces of the Phillips Collection leave their home in Washington, but this time the collection has made an exception and has come to visit the CaixaForum. This tour shows the names of the great masters of painting from Romanticism to Abstract Expressionism through the work of Manet, Courbet, Sisley, Van Gogh, Degas, Picasso, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Pollock and Rothko, among others, all from the Phillips Collection – one of the largest collections of modern art and avant-garde in the United States.
The exhibition is organised into six blocks, which cover genres from Romanticism to abstract expressionism. This artistic voyage provides an opportunity to see the work of the most influential artists in these movements, artists who shaped the history of painting over the last 200 years. In the words of Duncan Phillips, “the spirit shared by artists from different parts of the world and different periods demonstrates that art is a universal language.”
It’s an exceptional opportunity for visitors to admire the masterpieces of the Phillips Collection of Washington, which rarely leaves.
