“DIUMENGE”

March 2, 2017

Sunday after Sunday, Oriol Vilanova Manresa delves into second hand markets, where he usually buys postcards which in bygone times circulated all over the world.

diumenge‘Diumenge’, exposed in two of the main areas of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, brings together all of the postcards collected by Oriol Vilanova. Kept together for over fifteen years, each of them forms part of a themed selection.

Oriol Vilanova (Manresa, 1980) is a Catalan artist residing in Brussels. In recent years, his work has appeared on prominent contemporary art events and has attracted the interest of a large segment of criticism. Often their work is summarized by describing it as a practice that takes place on Sunday at the Sunday flea markets and where used items go on sale. This is where it acquires particularly cheap postcards from all eras and different reasons. This means that over the years he has a collection of 30,000 postcards.
